When I did mine a few weeks ago the X was in the system for 3 weeks prior to being drained. I then added a connection to my central heating at it's highest point whereby it allowed me to run mains pressure fresh water through my heating system, until it ran clear. If your boiler happens to have an aluminium heat exchanger you shouldn't really leave X in the system for more than 3 to 4 hours..! Do your research You should really use it with a power flusher for the best results.

I have no experience of leaving X for long. In the OP's case it would have been better to use X Or to delay the addition of the desludger.
Agile , 4 Apr I inadvertently left x in mine for over a year with no damage as far as i can tell I have repiped system and new rads to the house except for 2 rads in attic rooms. Left the apprentice to move HWC position last year and told him to give it a powerflush then leave x in and i would drain it later. Totally forgot until just before xmas when drained system to move rad position and some nice black tea coloured water came out. You make the choice you take the risk.
