I'm thinking about buying the VW caddy short wheel base panel van. Is anybody using this as a van for sleeping in? I'm 6' but the back is only 5'11" but if the cage between the front seats and back is taken out it looks like you could get about 6'6" of space to lie down with front seats pushed forward. I understand that the caddy maxi van is longer but really don't want to be lugging that around town during the week.
If anyone has converted the caddy van for this purpose I would really appreciate hearing your views and ideas or any pictures to share. Dazmataz 06 Jun In reply to mikeconway: Hello, Ive got a caddy van Im 5"11, I have removed the cage and I sleep on the floor at the moment and Ive got just enough room, gonna build a raised floor bed tho with a little flap that folds up to extend the bed to about 6"4.
But, there are times one does not want to be awakened at the crack of dawn shining from directly above. So, for those that need absolute darkness, the Mini-Camper comes with window covers. Screens are also included for the back window to allow natural outdoor ventilation.
Sleeping arrangements are simple in the Caddy Mini-Camper. One 6. Just fold down the rear seats and roll out the mattress. Entry and egress are easy from either of sliding doors on each side.
Plenty of storage is available as well. In addition to beverage holders, zippered hanging storage comes with the Caddy Mini-Camper. That happens to be perfect to throw the grooming essentials into. Lightweight folding chairs and a table also come with the small Volkswagen. Each has its own storage bag. Christ, whatever next?
Binners for dietary tips? Flashy for budget airline reviews? I bought a cheapo memory foam mattress topper to go on top of it, its amazingly comfy! Loving all the suggestions in here, just take a look at the pic of the back of a caddy I posted up there.
Leaves plenty room for a bike and a bed. I use one of those cots Ninfan pictures. I use an old crank arm. Take the bulkhead out of the caddy and you will get most beds in there. I just use a self inflating mat and slide the passenger seat as far forward as it goes. This topic has 41 replies, 29 voices, and was last updated 5 years ago by anniison.
